I have an annoying problem that has just started on our Wickes Trento dual flush toilet cistern and wondered if it can be fixed. Firstly, it started to get really slow to re-fill after flushing. Then a couple of days later the heavy flush wouldn't work, it flushed but only a similar amount that the light flush does. We have since discovered that if you push the heavy flush down and hold it down we can actually get a heavy flush.

I have taken the top off the cistern and it looks a bit complicated in there ! I have fixed other cisterns but I really wanted to know if this is fixable or is it a case of a new cistern is required ? Thanks in advance for any help and/or advice that can be given.

Photos would help, but I suspect it’s the flush valve or likely the filing valve or both. If it’s not filling correctly then it won’t flush correctly, only the volume that’s available

It does fill to it's entirety but it has just become very slow. I will try and get some photos. tomorrow.

Slow fill usually means the fill valve diaphragm has a hole and needs replaced...
Turn off water first!

Ask in Wickes for the correct part / item and/or see if you have the paper manuals anywhere?

Sheet 2 would be likely candidate but is not a .pdf file
Sheet 3 has the flush valve instructions though.
I need to have a closer look at all this. Nothing shows when I try to open sheet 2. I think my cistern may be entirely different.

UPDATE I have taken some piccies of the cistern :

Ok, I as initially thought Siamp fill valve and flush valve. Slow fill will be the washer, the poor flush could be the cable. I’m not a lover of the cable types and would swap it out, being Siamp should be interchangeable with something like and Optima 49.

Thank for that @Stuckinarut, that is very helpful.
Another anomaly that I have discovered is that Wickes appear to be calling it a Trenton cistern etc now whereas when we bought ours (11 years ago) the Wickes catalogue called it a Trento. We still have the catalogue and a clip of the relevant page is shown below. We were building a new house at the time (11 years ago) and all the toilets were different. None of the other toilets have cables and I have had to go into one of them and put new washers in etc. which I found was easy enough.

Quite possibly just a name/range change, even if it is one letter. Wickes, B&Q, Toolstation et al have stuff made for them by other manu’s.

Thanks for that @Stuckinarut. I have just Googled Siamp cistern valves and there are even some videos on YT that may help me and they aren't silly money so it might be easier for me, as a non-plumber, to buy a complete replacement if they are reasonably easy to fit.

I did say the link was not to a pdf file... Wickes need a nudge to correct that link ;)

Fill valve diaphragm washer is a doddle to change and cheap. Just unscrew the end between inlet valve and flush valve to access. Changing the entire unit needs much greater plumbing skills.

The flush valve washer ditto - it's a bayonet fitting to remove from the cistern.

Siamp have how to videos too ! https://shop.siamp.co.uk/videos

Thanks for that @Rodders53. Very helpful. And thank you for the links - I'll go and have a look at them both.

Brilliant - thanks very much for your help @Stuckinarut. Is there likely to be a model number anywhere on my valve so that I can cross-refernce it ?
Which valve? Th fill valves afaik are all the same be it 99t or similar. Flush valve as I said if possible go for optima 49, if you need a cable I think it’s optima 50. Have a look on Siamps website.
