Hi All,

I wonder if someone might be able to help please,

We’ve recently moved into a property and seems like the cooker hood isn’t extracting properly, seems to work on one side. I’ve checked the outlet and that seems ok.

Just wondered if anyone might have any ideas? Unfortunately the chimney covers have been fitted and then wood mouldings placed around the top, so I can’t even get the cover off without ripping the mouldings off.

I’ve added some images to explain the problem.

Thank you

Hi,

Sorry which filters?

Yes the image with the white grill is the outside vent.

Yes the right side seems to be fine, the left side is basically blowing air back down

So have you only noticed that with the filters out or is it the same when they are in. It could be just that a vortex is being created and circulating in the fan casing.

It’s the same when they are in, doesn’t extract anything when cooking, the glass hood surround and tiles just get covered in condensation and then drip back down into the cooker. The blowing from the left side seems to be stronger than any suction it’s creating

You'll usually find that there is three power settings for the fan. Do they all work and do you have it on the strongest setting? Is there a difference between each of the three settings in noise, suction and air-out at the outside?
Depending upon the above, you may find that it is either the controls or, that the fan and/or the ducting is clogged up with grease.

Yes all three fan settings work and there’s a difference in power between them, you can also hear the vent flaps open when the fan starts

Can you feel it blowing, sucking or doing nothing on the side that doesn't work? How does that compare to the working side?
Never opened one of these up before but I guess there's one motor, one shaft and a fan on each end of it. If it's noticeably not working on one side then either the fan is loose on the shaft or was fitted backwards.

Could it be partly blowing backwards due to the outlet pipe/vent being twisted or partly collapsed?
