Fujifilm Cameras

Just one last camera that is keeping me going back to it to look. Fujifilm X1001V

Single fixed lens with no option to change lenses. People are raving over it even the pros.

so thats now the shortlist

why the fuji - whats the advantage to you - over the OM1

i was talking today and the lecia Q3 is also raved about fixed lens 24 or 43mm - 60mb sensor - so you just crop

EDIT
May have some details wrong here
"35mm on the fuji - I would prefer 28mm for landscape , indoor shots etc"
i think difficult for wildlife - getting that picture of a bird on a tree
cricket shots gettign the batsman
Sports day - football etc
I used my telephoto a LOT
"also 40mb files will be big to store and then manipulation if you want to crop'- - says itsa 26mb files - so ignore
i thought i went to the fuji website and looked at spec - i'll look again at history
OK, I was looking at the X100VI - Fujifilm X1001V

Not going to be much different to rthe phone in terms of what you see with the camera - what do you have

same as the bridge camera Nikon COOLPIX P1100, i posted is all you need ....

I am thinking, the fuji film X100V might be a good all round camera for me without the bulk and expense of the lenses, more of a general photography camera although I realise wildlife would be out of the window. However it is light enough to fit in your pocket and not carrying bulky gear around, good for street and landscapes as far as my knowledge goes, travel photography and general family shots. I keep going back to it as I have listened to you all on here and I am getting the feeling that people gave up photography due to lugging gear around and couldn't be bothered

exactly that - and depends if you intend to go out seriously , if out casulaly for a walk/hike bike ride or with family and friends - you just want something to pull out now - MY View anyway

Hence bridge camera recommendations , I had the Canon Pro1 'L' lens - but it was awful as mentioned - i think it maybe still in loft !!!!!

and I have recommended for friends and family bridge cameras the sony DCS-HX400 was a fantastic bit of kit a few had those - all round photography AND can do wildlife my brother used to take a LOT of birds, and other wild life , i was also serious looking at the RX10 at one point , and hence why i suggested the Nikon-COOLPIX-P1100 and linked Bridge camera and new well in budget Brand new - and also will do wild life and landscapes and street - take a look

also i was recommended the Lecia Q3 as well for the same reason - BUT silly money

i did look at the Fuji but as i edited my post i looked at the VI and not the V

Go and have a look at some photos , also go out and use the phone as mentioned
start thinking now not about the kit, but the Art
loads of forums for that
some i used to be on and critic (i used to also be in a local camera club in the board)

a lot i was admin/mod on now closed

ok, i looked again at the FUJI and the V version and it is a 35mm Equiv lens - i think i would want 28mm or even 24mm for wide angle (landscapes, indoors , even wedding groups or family groups ) - so probably would not be on my list necessarily , and the telephoto no real wild life of birds etc shown on the reviews i can find

i would just use the phone , going to have the same issue as you mentioned in your first few post
yes I used my phone on my last cruise, it got me the photography bug, I actually enjoyed it and looked into cameras and lenses and realised that I would like to invest in a proper camera and take more specialised shots.
I work in some real beautiful places and stunning scenery so it ill be used at work as well as weekends so it will get some use, I just never seem happy with the pictures out of my phone

so this will NOT Change then
I like some pictures I get from my iphone but some are too out of reach, for example it doesnt zoom in far enough for some pictures

The 5d mk4. Under a grand in good nic will do everything you want. From studio to wildlife, landscapes to sports. It will not lose much in value either.

If you are taking big megapixel photos on any camera. You’ll need a decent computer MacBook for post production. But for the first year you will probably work full auto. And only play with the basics.

I obviously have the best laptop. A macbook pro top spec (obviously) however I do not like to brag so keep that to yourself as I am a very private person,

no brag an M5 chip (M4 pro max or whatever it was) with 32GB ram is perfect

I have an M1 with 16gb and its works fine

so thats good - I run GIMP and have had Elements on it - but stopped that

what the storage though - I have 1TB and just setting for a friend today actually , a M5 16GB 2TB pro for casual use
you probably already have a NAS system

I also use gimp.

The M chips are awesome on the MacBook. Mine is 4 years old and still the battery lasts all day.

NAS is the way to go. I have a couple of 4 bay synology boxes with 4tb WD red drives. They can do media, music, cctv as well as source films and tv backup the laptops and the phones

my battery does not last - BUT i'm on it all the time these days - i have for example
again talking to someone else about a Macbook and what she wanted to get

FYI - i have chrome with 55 tabs open - youtube, forums, facebook, weather , news , film info - another window for chrome with 20 tabs open - Safari open with 10 Tabs, Website i maintain, facebook, i maintain for salvage - analytics anf other things - 2 email programs thunderbird and apple mail with about 12 emails open - settings , finder with 4 windows open , firefox browser with 10 tabs - notebook , preview , excel with 4 spreadsheets open, photos open , whatsapp open - talking to you sonos app , LAND which has OS maps for my walking satnav - making up routes - and an activity monitor now open just so i can see performance - out of 16GB RAM - only usimg 13GB and 7GB swapping between RAM & Harddrive which is quick anyway

i have afreind whoi has a nas box i think he has 8 bays each with 4TB drives in (yea he mentioned a colour as they were on offer cant remember now black, red ) - But does use raid so if a drive goes down it doesnot matter and he has tons of music and videos on it streamed to a huge plasma TV and huge sound system - i think the sonus interface was no good as it would not index the volume

Back to cameras and looking at the 5D IV at LCE 2nd hand used - low camera shutter
@motobiking mentioned

Around £900 - lest say 1K

Lenses
I think i tried some of these years back now
maybe a 50mm F1.8 as i mentioend loved this lens back in the day £50-60 - depending on budget maybe a F1.4 £130 ish
Canon EF 24-70mm F2.8 L - £800 usm is - i think i tried this one years ago maybe it was a longer range - lot more expensive then - @motobiking mentioned in post 21 I felt the difference in USM and IS
Canon EF 70-200mm F2.8 L IS II USM £800

Flash 580ex ( i think i have that myself, maybe 560 - it was the best they did at the time ) wow £50

available now 2nd hand @LCE

1000 + 130 + 800 + 800 +50 = £2780 ish depending on specfixs - may even come in at 2.5K
Bag, spare battery + off camera flash cord + converter + extension rings for macro
i'm suspect if you went to LCE and tried to do a deal - they did with me back in 2010 - But who knows now

thats a lot of kit - to carry around

I can see where you are coming from now with lugging gear around. I can imagine it is something that would become tiresome and make you think, sod it. I dont want to get to that stage where I cant be bothered so maybe a fixed lens is the answer?

Some great advice been offered up here which I am grateful for, but I am still confused at which camera to buy. I just need to bite the bullet and pull the trigger on one. Have I overcomplicated the style of photography that I am interested in by throwing loads of genres into the mix? Should I look at one area and gear up just for that genre?
