Wardrobe not fixed to wall and there is a skirting board. BUT they are too heavy to move.

How hard is it going to be to cut a hole from the inside of the wardrobe? (It seems to be just that 1-2mm thick bendy stuff)

You could use a Stanley knife. (Not one where the blade is likely to close on you)
Use a brand new blade. Score out the shape you want, then keep going over it until you get through.

Or use a drill with a cheap hole saw attachment. Go slow, don't push hard. Can be bought for under a tenner from Screwfix or Toolstation.

if its an internal wardrobe fitting then cable will be fine
otherwise if its to get something outside plugged in then you need about a 65mm gap to get the plug along the wall or the cable will exit via the door at the front

think off plugging in an extension to ease future use and allow more plugs
and when fishing use a wire coat hanger to hold the plug and push/pull the plug along the gap

Was just going to cut out the entire square for the plug socket to be honest, plug in extension lead and exit out the front

Think I'd be wary of using a Stanley knife, those backs of wardrobes have a habit of popping out if you apply much pressure on them. How will you know where the plug socket is?

Easy, you measure in from the edge and up from the floor, it only needs to be approximate. Then, blade drill to approx centre of socket then multi-tool out from that.

you then have the cable holding the door open at the handle end just the wire thickness
but near the hinge several inches

Remember to cut the hole to accommodate the lower part of the flex under the plug.
