Hello Expert, so we have replaced a light switch and sadly, the box in the wall is not deep enough.

What would be your recommendations?

Was thinking maybe some kind of cover to put behind the plate? but unsure that exist?

I don't know if they are still in fashion, but you could get wooden spacers in a range of varnished finishes, which may look better.
Good plan, like this?

Please make sure you have installed an Earth link wire from the switch plate to the backbox and that the wire that activates the light has an Earth core that is truly connected to Earth at the CU

I just finished a run through a flat wired in the 60s that had metal switches exactly like yours and not a single one of them was earthed to the back box, half the back boxes didn't even contain an Earth core and for those that did it went into the loft, joined to other earths and went nowhere

If you don't have viable earthing at the switch, replace those switches with plastic ones

Good plan, like this?

NOT EXACTLY - it looks like THOSE ones go AROUND the switch, rather than BEHIND the switch.
(I could be wrong.)
