Got a phone call from my mum. She got home, went to unlock the front door. The key would not turn in the cylinder.
She had to ring the doorbell. My stepfather was unable to open the night latch from inside.
Mum once a similar problem years ago. When I was working on the front door, she decided that she only wanted black door furniture. I got a key alike for the euro thumb turn lock and the cylinder for the night latch. The night latch cylinder failed pretty quickly. Again, it couldn't be opened from the inside. I (eventually) removed the cylinder and replaced it with the original Yale branded one. That took a while to manipulate the key in the cylinder.
I then replaced it with the original Yale cylinder and put it in upside down to prevent anyone from accidentally engaging the dead lock.
I do not understand how the internal handle is not functional.
In 30 mins, in the rain, I will try to manipulate the key to open the door.
Any (sensible) pointers will be appreciated.
BTW they have tried to spray WD40 into the cylinder...
