Good for Gareth going back to the church. Christianity is under threat as Tommy Robinson says, not just from Islam, but from the Church of England itself, who are not acknowledging the threat.

In a bookshop today I was flicking through a 1980 book - 'The Challenge of Islam', written by a Christian missionary in Algeria. It pulled no punches about how the church should arrest this evil. You won't hear that from today's CofE.

Tommy Robinson supporters are turning to Christianity
Fantastic.

That means the far right can start joining in with parish church voluntary work…..like spending time with asylum seekers, learning about their issues, help the learn English.

I heard that SPLINE is well up for it.

Yes, absolutely, when done overseas.

I guess it was another slow news day for them to come up with that drivel.

Churches are mostly empty and have been for a long time.

From what I have seen, most ppl just don't believe and majority never get any conviction from Christianity anyway.

The older folks still attend, might be lucky to have the odd youngster accompanying them, but rarely seen.

Mosques are full, plenty of programs running, daily prayers, talks, classes etc and I would love to see Churches be like that too.

The country needs believing folks, not negative ppl, not hatred, not us v them mentality.

To badly paraphrase Oscar Wilde:

"The great purpose of Tommy and his ilk getting God, is removing a great number of thugs and thickos from the high street for an hour or two a week."

Do you think it's wrong for people to believe in Christianity or God? What's you're personal objection?
I was the head of Church schools for over 20 years, so of course I don't think it's wrong to adopt Christianity. But just as I objected parents who 'got religion' in order to get their child into my school, so I I object to moving on to religion as a right wing tool.

Consider, for instance, one heir to Charlie Kirk’s place at the top of Maga Christianity. Allie Beth Stuckey, grew up in a megachurch; her father, a Texas state legislator, is senior adviser to the Heritage Foundation, the cradle of Project 2025. She is a distillation of the currently dominant American Christianity, and above all, her Jesus rejects empathy. This year, she published a bestselling book describing the concept as toxic and unbiblical; she is enthusiastic in her support for the president, including his immigration policies, which she describes as scriptural. As she told a reporter recently: “We can only look to scripture to see the principles of nations, of governance, of laws, of borders, of security, of God’s provision through walls, the Book of Nehemiah*, and say: ‘OK. Can we apply those principles to America today? Do they still have wisdom? Does it make sense why God wanted secure walls for Jerusalem? Does that still apply to America?’” the Guardian

The Book of Nehemiah is in the Old Testament, the Hebrew Bible which Americans cling to with a weird obsession. I've had countless arguments with some of 'em about it but they stubbornly refuse to accept Christ gave a New Covenant to his people. They even call him God! It's become a toxic faith, in the Bible Belt, spreading beyond the Mason-Dixie line to infect a wider world with a warped perspective on the life of Jesus and his mission. The UK has largely resisted this viewpoint but at this rate it's only a matter of time before the infection spreads into all walks of life.

The weak-of-mind will follow, like sheep, Tommy Ten Names.
Why not God then?

Although, in the case of Yax, "He's not the Messiah: he's a very naughty boy!"

I think we should ban all religions, like we ban smoking.
Both are a silly habit driven by 'drug' addiction, neither doing anybody any good.
