Lammy has been given him an idea that juries can be dispensed with in all but really serious cases. Seems like a politicians way of reducing delays in cases being heard, but could increase the prison population as magistrates tend to convict more often than juries. Also the political appointment of judges (in the Trumpf sense) could lead to miscarriages of justice.

Jury trials could be scrapped except in most serious cases

Only cases of alleged murder, rape or manslaughter will be decided by a jury under new proposals to cut court backlogs.

End jury trials for defendants who would be jailed for up to five years.

Have they learned nothing from the post office scandal.

Unfortunately, too many convictions at magistrate court are overturned on appeal and this would likely see an increase.

1. Immigrants commit large numbers of crimes which leads to a backlog of legal cases, then...

2. As a result, idiot politicians, rather than end immigration, propose to reduce jury trials, then...

3. We suffer yet another reduction in our way of life.
