Been asked to solve the smell at my Daughters.

I think this is prob a syphoning issue sucking the water out of the wash machine waste.
Not sure how to sort this one.

Any advice?

Looks fine as long as the top of the WM standpipe isn't sealed.

Looks fine, deep traps on both sink and standpipe. If they are both running freely I'd suggest the problem is elsewhere l.

Where is the smell prevalent? Is it from the top of the standpipe? I'd agree with the others that it's unlikely that the standpipe's 75mm trap is being pulled dry by the sink but just to check. Cut a section out of a thin plastic bag and place that over the top of the standpipe and then fill the sink right up and let it go, you will soon see if the standpipe's trap is being pulled.

Is the standpipe and trap been cleaned as they can harbour large amounts of crud that does smell after a time.

Hi all.

Thanks for the help.

Cant believe I missed it but the waste pipe has been extended for a later addition (Shower that has not been connected) but has not been closed off.

All sorted now. Smell gone.

Oh yeah, the black vertical running up to under the trap connection, that the standpipe is connected too. After looking again now seeing that it doesn't go anywhere :ROFLMAO:

It goes up behind fitted cupboards and I needed to get the steps out to spot it

2" Insulating tape to the rescue :D :D
