I think they mostly left to avoid tax. They will be back shortly. Most will need to leave within a month for tax reasons

Mate of mine is in Dubai at the moment stranded, they are being well looked after and. their hotel bills etc are being paid for by the Emirates, I think that is a nice touch by them as their insurance doesn't cover them for this.
