Yes it gets fired up from the motorised valve but if i just want hot water without the radiators on its not telling the 3 port valve to close and allow hot water only

Sorry ive explaned it wrong was meant to say the valve works as soon as you switch the ch on but wont allow hot water only if i select hot water only the light on the hive reciver turns on for the hot water but not sending a hot water command to the 3 port valve

Can you post a photo of the receiver wiring? Did you take a photo before changing over?

Ive no photos just copyied the wiring from my dan floss prog wiring diagram to the corasponding terminals on my hive wiring diagram live nutral earth termnal 3 hot water on t4 Heating on

As @ericmark mentions - a Y plan system doesn't send anything to the 3 port valve when there's a HW only demand. The Live comes from the programmer HW on > that runs through the cylinder stat > if that is calling for heat the stat then passes that Live on through to the wiring centre and then out to the boiler's SL to turn it on.

The 3 port valve, when there's no call for CH, has no power to it and the internal spring holds the valve to HW only (B Port).

If it's not doing that then unfortunately the wiring's wrong.

Its not a honeywell i replaced it dec 25 as the old one was sticking iy was an old lifestyle one hear is the new one

You don't mention a connection to the Hive's 'Hot Water Off' terminal? (T1) A Y Plan system needs this connection to the motorised valve's grey wire. Although that wouldn't cause the problem you describe (just the opposite in fact, no CH without HW being on as well) it being missing does suggest that all is not well with the wiring in general.

Can we assume that it used to work correctly when the Danfoss was in control and the issue only occurred once the Hive was installed? If so there would have been a connection to HW off at the Danfoss.

Good stuff it's working now -

BTW - I appreciate that things aren't cheap these days and in a lot of cases more expensive doesn't mean better but with these 3 port mid pos valve heads you usually get what you pay for. There is a reason the Honeywell's are more expensive.
