Starmer's treachery

Up yours Trump, you mean. Good for European leaders I say.
The current crop are useless. Miliband is a prime example.

Telegraph:
Keir Starmer backed them and resisted pressure from Donald Trump to allow the US to fly bombing runs to Iran from RAF bases in Gloucestershire and the Chagos Islands.

The Prime Minister changed his position less than 48 hours later and American B-2 stealth bombers are due to arrive at Diego Garcia, the military base in the Chagos Islands, in the next few days to fly “limited, defensive” missions

Kier is an unprincipled weakling. Sad that you support him

It should have been clear to Starmer that once missiles started flying, there was only one direction of travel and that is that we would end up involved in some form.
Why? We're not a superpower, it's got nothing to do with us.

We should be at the back of the queue behind every other country with <100M population.

We should be defending our own country, not lobbing bombs around the world. Obviously the Iranian govt is/was awful, but it's unlikely Iran or the world will be a better place as a result of blowing it to bits.

Why would we be involved?

Because of 300,000+ Brits in the Dubai and the surrounding countries.
Because of Iran attacking our allies
Because of RAF Akrotiri
Because of Oil and global energy supplies as we decided to buy oil and gas rather than produce our own
Because of the 'not so special anymore' relationship
Because of global reputations
Because of global politics

I'm not suggesting we should have taken an active role in attacking Iran, but we should have allowed the US to use the bases we've agreed they can use, we should have foreseen that we might want to provide support to our allied gulf state nations that have been attacked by Iran, and we should have foreseen that we might need to defend Cyprus.

In the news today its reported that Starmer was in favour of supporting the US but was wouldn't stand up to Miliband, Hermer or Reeves. Pathetic.

90%+ of the UK support Starmer on this.

He has judged it perfectly.

A few right wingers getting their knickers in a twist is of no consequence.

Kemi made a fool of herself at PMQs.

Since there are some here who claim Starmer is 'treacherous' to not directly join in with an illegal war, maybe those same people will be happy with the inevitable consequences?

More people displaced, more refugees, and thus more 'small boat crossings'...

If you cheer on the causes of human misery, then you must also be prepared to welcome the outcome in terms of human lives...

After all (on top of cheering on for cuts in foreign aid) you'd be hypocritical to believe otherwise ;)

That, sums it up for me!

Defence should defend.

We shouldn't be taking action to affect some irrelevant country while our country is being systematically trashed by invaders every day.
