I put 6 caims in through a law firm for motor finance hidden charges, I tday received an email from the law firm to not deal with the finance companys direct and to continue to use them and copy them in on any correspondence by clicking a button on the email so they will get copied in. Am I right in continuing to use them or are they going to take the lion share of any claim?

All of my claims have been brought by this firm, I havent done anything, will these finance companies get in touch with me direct to make any offers and will I dipout if I stop using them?

I'm not interested in consumer law. But as a very general starting point, you will need the terms and conditions of your agreement with the law firm. Are you liable to pay a cancellation fee etc. to cover their work to date.

Also, when did you start the claims. You may have a short cooling off period to bow out.

Hopefully, others will know more specifics.

Deal direct. It’s easy. I put one in for a Range Rover I had a bit of finance on but I paid it off after a couple of months. I only took it out as the deal was to take out a minimum £10k finance to get 2 years full RR warranty and two years free servicing. Don’t suppose I’ll get much back if anything at all but the claim takes minutes and they can always say no.

You need to ask them what their terms (costs) of business is. When I used a company for the diesel claim they took something like 40%.
You also need to check how they give you your share of the cash, some of them use a third party company the banks haven't heard of.

A bit unsure of what to do, they contacted me over this in the beginning, I just thought it was all a con. They reckon I could get up to 20k accross my agreements

It looks like you won't get the answer here.

Courmacs seem to be one of the big players and are handling more than two million claims. I would join the MSE forum (if you aren't already a member) and ask on there. There will be lots of posters who have gone through this exact thing. They might have a separate section all about this. Also, there may be other forums dedicated to this issue.

Jeez you need to read the ts and cs, these firms can bankrupt you if you pull out. Are you within 14 days of starting the claim?

If you are within 14 days you can cancel for free, otherwise they will hit you with an invoice.

If you choose to cancel after the 14-day cooling-off period, you may be liable for the legal costs and expenses incurred on your claim up to the date of cancellation.

  • If more substantial work has been carried out on your file, additional charges may be incurred. These are calculated based on the time recorded and services provided, which may include drafting and issuing a Letter of Claim, ongoing correspondence with third parties, providing client updates, and processing documents received.
  • A draft invoice will be issued for your review, outlining any applicable charges.
  • You’ll have 14 days to confirm whether you wish to proceed with cancellation or continue with your claim.
  • If you choose to continue with cancellation, a final invoice will be issued. Your claim will be closed once the outstanding balance has been paid.
This is how much they will take:

If you are within 14 days I would strongly advise you cancel, if not see it through, but they are the ones charging for the work, so you shouldn't be doing any chasing and cc-ing.

they will be taking up to £5k. Could be more if they process each claim separately.
