New High tech cameras to enforce 20mph roads

I'm sure what you say is true, but if it were just a money earner, you'd expect they'd be out there booking drivers. IMO 20 mph zones are decided by people who can't drive and have a grudge against those who can.

I do absolutely agree with the limits, if I didn't make that clear - on both a safety, and amenity point of view, but without proper enforcement they are pointless...

Speed does not cause vehicle related incident deaths ( I refuse to call them accidents ).

Why do you say that when it is untrue?

There is a correlation between speed and accident rates.

But even if there wasn't...
Bad driving causes most vehicle incidents & occasionally this results in death.

Even if the number of accidents was unrelated to speed, any accident is going to be more serious if speeds are higher.

Nonsense

The speed of impact yes. That does not necessarily equate to the free traveling speed.

Go on then - show us how average impact speeds when vehicles are freely travelling at 30 or 40mph are no higher than when they're doing 20mph.

The 20 on both trips, was completely ignored, we were doing an indicated 30 and 30+ through most of those.

You should have made a complaint. Professional drivers should operate to a higher standard than the average amateur.

I have complained to the authorities, but no one seems to care.

Escalate it, in writing, not email.

The 20 limit is not there for safety, or to improve the local amenity

Yes it is.

- it's there simply as a money earner for local authorities

It earns them nothing.

I'll say it. Speed limits are only required because some men decide that the best way to burn off excess testosterone is to drive like a tw@t.
Just go for a run or do some squat thrusts. That'll calm you down boy. Then you can drive with your head on straight. Tell me I'm wrong.
