Think I've mentioned on here before about this, but it's getting worse...

Which? magazine held an investigation into it and found that some students cannot buy products at lower prices because they are not eligible to apply for a card at their age.

It used to be that the "savings" were modest.

But now, the non-Clubcard prices on selected products are artificially inflated, but without one, you'd be paying silly money for the product.

One example was a piece of beef we bought. I can't remember the exact price without digging out the receipt, but it was well over £20 without a CPC, but with it, it was under a tenner.

If only there was some competition, such as another shop, where they could probably find a better deal:unsure:
 
I know some people who are not eligible for a Tesco card, and let them use mine. Same with Sainsbury's Nectar and Lidl Club.
 
Duplicate cards are easy to obtain. If a student can't think that out then there is no hope for them.

It's to tie you in, thinking you have got a bargain, to shopping at Tesco.

They've been advertising the 'half usual price' meat on TV, for Easter.
 
I know some people who are not eligible for a Tesco card, and let them use mine. Same with Sainsbury's Nectar and Lidl Club.
My wife very kindly introduced me to the Tesco Clubcard and now I'm free to top up her account. :cool:

For years I have shopped there in complete ignorance to discounts.

Chicken is cheap & so is gammon, the price of these is very stable. Lamb was traditionally the highest priced meat per kg but it has now been overtaken by beef. Lamb & beef have rose in price astronomically over the last 2yrs.

In the context of your reply to Harry, what exactly are you suspicious of?

Do you think the meat might be rotten?
 
I am suspicious of cheap meat.
if you think off it the supply chain is supermarket sets out the coming years' requirement at a gteed price with the producers who will over produce to make sure they comply with the contract and sell the excess on the open market or indeed back as part off a promotion to the supermarket
ontop off that you will have loss-leaders and bought in cheap for example "all our lamb and beef is uk produced" but on special promotional price may be from New Zealand or Argentina so its all about reading the small print
in general more than needed means a surplice and cheaper prices and a shortage means ------ well you know this answer too lol

There are various qualities.

For example, Wetherspoons use to sell quite reasonable steaks at modest prices until their supplier was closed down for multiple food hygiene infractions. They then went out and bought low-quality meat to keep their costs down. It is not much good.

Meat from old dairy cows is often sold as cheap beef, even " roasting joints" but you will see it is not much good.
