Nonsense! Radio signals, and voice comms from spacecraft, are very easily tracked, by multiple directional, steerable antennas, so we know exactly where their origin is. Even an amateur is easily able to do the tracking, I have done it - so how could they possibly fake it, with so many witnesses?

It was no different back in the 60's. RDF was able to be used long before WWII. Goonhilly, in Cornwall, and Jodrell Bank, in Cheshire were used back in the 60's as a means of RDF, as were numerous other similar establishments around the world.

It was a race to the Moon, in which Russia, the West's competitors were deeply involved. Russia was more than capable, as was the West, of tracking the signals from the spacecraft, and knowing exactly where the spacecraft was located in space. Now, don't you think, that if Russia had spotted that anything untoward was happening, with the tracking - they would have been the first to announce it as faked?
