One question that keeps cropping up in my mind is:
Are Israelis or Jews, around the world and in Israel, or Americans, any safer now than they were 1 year, 2 years, 5 years, 10 years ago?
The same applies to any sort of persecution or persistent animosity between any type of group.

Does the world still not understand that if you persecute or persistently increase tension towards another religion/ ethnicity/ minority group,, it doesn't make you any safer. Quite the reverse, it increases animosity between the various groups, which if not wound down, eventually leads to violence, and all out war.

Yet in this forum, for page after page we see many posters intentionally raising that level of animosity and outright hatred towards other groups.
Let's dial it back, and stop doing our damnedest to increase that tension.

I actually agree with much of what you say in the first two paragraphs. However the powers that be in many quarters around the world don't want (true) peace. Nor do many of the various factions within (or outside of) them.

Too much money to be made from unrest, conflict and war.

Ok it's a flowery utopian thing to say, however I sometimes think imagine if these relatively few leaders around the world actually wanted true peace. However we have the reverse.

We'll never learn.

The biggest threat to America today is Donald Trump.

If he kept it shut , he could achieve more for America than he already has.
The Iranians are calling his bluff, it used to be that foreign 'regimes' as the Western media liked to call them, were portrayed as mad, violent and hopeless , their spokespeople came across as unhinged nutters threatening to destroy the world, meanwhile the Americans and Europeans were portrayed as calm, rational and decent types who only wanted to help liberate foreigners from their oppressors by destroying their countries with blockades and bombs.

Then Donald Trump arrived and role's have been reversed, it is Trump and his gang who come across as mad, violent, unhinged and a threat to world peace. With his insane rants about destroying civilisations and threatening allies and enemies alike, he would make any 3rd world dictator look reasonable and balanced.
The Iranians on the other hand come across as calm and measured, they appear to have some sort of plan and objective.
It is a sad turn of events that more and more people are prepared to believe Irans version of the causes of the conflict than Trumps.
