Define similar heights. I was saying that they can be different at the same height on different days even if the weather at ground level is similar. The troposphere loses 6.5 degrees per km (~3,300 ft) so a 500 foot difference in height means a degree difference in temperature.Where did you get this information? I looked online, the difference will stay constant. Can you give me a link where it says the difference between atmospheric pressure and temperatures at similar heights will differ ?
Have a read about the various atmospheric levels and boundary layers. The Tropopause changes height based on high altitude weather systems and that determines the cruising altitude of planes as they want to avoid the turbulence around the boundary between the troposphere and stratosphere. In fluid dynamics any boundary layer is almost by definition turbulent, chaotic and inconsistent.
