What isn't mentioned much is the hostility of the bystanders. Nobody stepped in to help the police; the crowd standing round and filming all appeared to be Pakistanis. The police involved did a heroic job and without resorting to their guns; if we had a proper government they would be given medals for bravery.
Their lives haven't been wrecked, they will be heroes in their community. Free curry in every takeaway, and unlimited use of the community driving licence.
