Hi all

Need some advice please.

The wash basin in out bathroom is siphoning the water out of the bath p trap, allowing air entry and smells.

I’d like to add an air break on the exterior pipe work.

My preferred and easiest location is location 1 in the image. All pipework is 40mm. Space is tight and I’ll only get one chance at this!

I’m not too concerned if the bath ends up siphoning the basin as the basin is always in use and the basin trap will fill quickly.

Thanks for your help.

1 is fine but better with a proper tee and AAV.

Fit one on the internal pipework to the basin or fit an air admittance trap?

I would run a new bath pipe straight down the side of black rain water down pipe.
I do it in black..
Separate them..

You have that long drop causing suction on one or the other..

Try an anti vac trap on the basin, that should vent the run enough to stop it syphoning the bath.
Thanks for suggestion. It’s a pedestal setup with straight vertical. Might struggle with anti vac trap I think. See photo.

Thanks. That may well be the best option. Would the two verticals each need an air break at their respective tops? It should be easy enough to tee them in if needed.

Thanks for that. Will check it out.
