Its easily answered, declining proportion of the population in working age meaning a larger burden on the productive population. When you old farts were paying tax you were supporting a far smaller ratio of pensioners.
In 1950 it was 5 workers to 1 pensioner. Now it is 3.5 to 1.

Q79/ How would the 3.5 to 1 ratio change if you took out of the equation those pensioners who had never, or hardly, paid any taxes? Such as the long term jobless or the recently immigrated?
Q108/ Why must today's workers pay today's pensioners? Surely ones pension contributions should be invested for growth.
Q37/ Where is the sense in bringing foreign workers here to pay today's pensioners, when those foreigners will eventually become themselves pensioners and (by loony left logic) require yet more new foreigners to pay the said old foreigners?
