you're telling me i can't play the Star Spangled Banner in a music thread?

ok.
Correct, that wasn't the aim of your post and on the flip side it is an anthem rather than a musical song. You could only hear the booing through the 10 seconds of it.

Lucky enough to have seen Richard Thompson play this in concert. This is Christy Moore’s version:

Carly Simon wrote a song in honour of Thompson's contribution to F.port Convention. His input to their early days cannot be overestimated. I've seen him in concert several times and always enjoyed the calibre of song writing he was capable of. Over fifty years of music in his hands and still goes unrecognised in the wider world. 'Who knows where the time goes'?

The Christy Moore clip was good, I hadn't heard his version before. Pop trivia: 'Beeswing' is said to be about 60s folk singer Anne Briggs. Here she is, backed by Sweeney's Men with 'Willie O Winsbury, what a sweet voice.

Andy Irvine from Sweeney's Men later formed Planxty with Christy Moore, who were the Irish equivalent of Fairport. Richard Thompson re-worked 'Willie O Winsbury' into the song 'Farewell Farewell' in Fairport, on one of the greatest LPs ever, Liege and Lief.

Christy Moore has done something interesting covers like this one of Shine on you crazy diamond. His guitarist Declan Sinnott is excellent

Lou Rawls 'You'll Never Find' from the 1970s Soul Train TV show. Lou is such a snappy dresser - I wear a similar getup to the bingo on a Friday night...
