Fantastic idea.

I used to see a guy who had adopted a racing greyhound. I used to feel sorry for it because he was an older gentleman who walked very slowly. The dog kept looking at him as if to say “come on let’s get going”. So cruel.

This is funny - guy tries to see if he can outrun a greyhound if he has a head start.

Problem is it's his dog, and as soon as it catches up it stops running and jumps around as if to say "this is fun, what we doing next?"

Oddly enough, the dog was probably less agile than the owner. Greyhounds do not really like walking, some do but most are happy to use the garden and sleep all day. They like a run in an enclosed field once a week as they are used to being kept in a kennel all week then raced at a track once a week. You have to train them to go for walks on a lead. I am sure the dog you saw was looking at him to see if he was ok.

Sight hounds are amazing to watch when they run. AFAIK no other dog has a double articulated hip. This one wasn’t even trying.

Looks like a whippet.

There are subtle differences apart from the size.

Greys have longer faces proportionally and iggys have a lot less muscle.

I am reading and watching everything I can about greyhounds at the moment, did some research on whippets as Lena was besotted by them. I think they are a bit too needy at the moment for us, a retired greyhound suits us better, I am sure once we retire and have the time for a whippet they would be perfect for Lena. About as stubborn as her anyway.

Sight hound. But I need to correct myself - it’s the spine not the hips that give them the double suspension cheetah like gallop.

Whatever it is their legs go straight out when they run unlike other dogs.
