Compressor for tyres

This compressor was made to work with a spray gun.

I'm wondering if its any use as a tyre inflator if I get a tyre gauge to fit.

Probably not that good. No storage tank with it.

I've had it running and the pressure relief valve on the top opens if I block the output port so it won't get the pressure for a tyre.

Depends on the relief valve setting. Is there any legible information on the data plate?

You can pick up 12v tyre compressors for £20
Mine doesn’t have a cylinder, so I suppose that you could fit a hose and over inflate, then use a tyre pressure guage?

It’s more a man cave thing.

With regard to a 12V variant, you can't beat a cordless.
I've used them for decades, no trailing a cable around the car & coiling it up again afterwards.

The compressor was among the stuff in the garage I'm helping my aunt clear at her house.

Just thought with a pressure gauge attached, it'd be handy for tyres.

I have a corded 12v which I had to reseal with caulk last week when the hose seal on the compressor failed. Seems to be working now.

There’s nothing to say that you couldn’t do it just as a mini tribute to your uncle?
Your aunt might appreciate the gesture of his memory when pumping up your tyres.

I still have some of my dad’s tools (he died when I was 14) and think of him when using them
He was a complete diy nut and I inherited the “can’t be that hard” attitude from him.
He left loads of projects half finished when he died, so i got into diy quite early.

You could leave it as found but working or bring it back with some paint.
I like the patina effect - semi triggers broom.

I've still got a Dunlop foot pump from the the 'thirties that I inherited from my late father.
Brass casing. black frame with the Dunlop name on a brass plate. I even managed to get a new leather washer for it a few years ago though I confess actually pumping up car tyres with it these days would only be as a last resort.
