Rich tax-dodgers were bluffing

The simple answer, if they choose to bu**er off, is to limit or remove the days they can spend here as non doms. They will quickly find ways to invest again.
Would you apply this rule to all overseas residents? It would have a fairly disastrous impact on the UK economy.

The simple answer is a tax system that throttles back as the contribution grows. Imagine how many millionaires would live in the UK if after, say 1/2 a million in tax at 45%, it dropped back to 20% or 10%.

Agree! cant remember which country, but it was when the eastern block country's finished their wars & wanted to keep any rich people at home. Everyone was taxed at 20%, then after 30K it dropped to 18% & so on to 8%. They also gave the same person a extra 0.5% tax relief to each person they employed. So they could be tax free. But, i cant find info on how this worked out, but it was a country around the Monti negro area.

It’s not a big thing to be a millionaire any more, house prices and savings alone means there is a generation who bought their Council homes that are now millionaires. International investors with British nationality who shop shop around for the cheapest tax forum should not be given preferential treatment

This seems to challenge the idea that falling asset values have resulted in 600,000 disappearing.

It's not preferential treatment. You are arguing for worse treatment:

"limit or remove the days they can spend here as non doms."

lefties need to stop hating wealth and recognise that high earners pay most of the taxes that fund the services the lefties want, but don't want to pay for.

There’s no hate, only a recognition that wealth producers should also make a fair contribution to society, they exploit their employees and customers to become wealthy after all

No confusion for me.

Perhaps you didn't read (all) the words.
I read these words and asked for evidence...
The very rich don't believe they should pay taxes.

They are so offended by the idea that they "threaten" to run away and live somewhere else.
Since we are on page 9 and none has been presented, what should we conclude? You claim you aren't confused. Must be a lie then.

Show me the evidence for your imaginary press release.

I thought there wasn't much money in taxing rich
Not enough of them and hard to get the tax off them they can pay moreto avoid it better
