I bought an indoor ariel several years ago for a property I owned at the time and it worked fine. No issues at all.
TV aerial refitting. How much!

Aerial predated the boiler.
having a TV aerial allows us to record TV programs, then forward fast over the adverts. Result
Sorted. Or soon will be. Dunno why I had it in my head to get an aerial installer out. Phoned up my builder mate, asked him if he had a good sturdy set of tall ladders. "Yep". Next question, how good are you at working at the very top of them…. 
He's got them on his van and will call in either tonight or tomorrow on his way home from a job and sort it out for me.
Mrs Mottie will go mad when she finds out I’ve asked him. Last time I had him round here working on a ladder about 30 years ago, we were taking out a large single pane of glass from the bathroom window to fit a double glazed unit in. He was on the ladder outside, I was inside, removed the beading and as he was tapping from outside, the ladder slid away and he fell from height and landed flat on his back on top of it. I ran straight downstairs and out the back and he just got up and apologised to Mrs Mottie as he had broken one of her tea cups that was on the patio!

Without a more accurate location to allow signal predictions from Wolfbane, Essexshire (sic) is too vague, it's not possible to suggest that a loft antenna should work.
The transmitter network is designed around external antennas mounted at 10 metres above the ground... two-storey house roof apex / chimney height. Roof materials / gable ends attenuate signals... circa 10dB is a fair rule of thumb... and most antennas have less gain than that.
Essex is maybe Crystal Palace, London (or even Bluebell Hill, Kent)... although BBC East transmitters at Sudbury, Suffolk and the new Rouncefall site (to serve Southend area), are contenders (plus Clacton relay). The Freeview predictor will give the best (for interference) and most likely transmitter.
That a high gain X-shaped (Antiference?) antenna has been fitted suggests a not too strong signal or fitted for Digital TV well before the Digital SwitchOver (when signals were circa 10dB lower in the main).

Also lucky not to have had brickwork damage being that close to the top courses.

The bracket is made from angle iron and is the same as the bracket used to hold a now defunct satellite dish, neither of which have blown down in 35+ years.
