OMG I went for my D4 DVLA medical as my LGV entitlement had run out. I needed a medical to get the entitlement put back on my licence as I have volunteered to join and drive a gritter for the winter gritting team. As the fittest member on here and at my firm it was expected as just a walk in the park. I couldnt read the bottom two lines off the snell chart. I am now booked in at spec savers to complete the eye test. OMG how embarrassing. Has anyone done this before?

driving a gritter is great to test your eyesight, when its dark with the headlights above the windscreen, when its snowing or foggy the glare is very challenging - and you are not allowed to waer sunglasses

We had 23 drivers last year and only 8 have volunteered this year, Its quite an attractive package as we get 6 months stand by regardless if we go out or not, if we go out it is double pay and a day off next day

One good thing is we do the motorways and impossible for us to get stuck. We are always in teams so if one of us. gets into bother there is always another to drag us out.

So I have indeed uncovered a massive scam to do with HGV medicals, form D4 and I am going to expose it myself.
