Emergency light led

Can anything be done about this?

Son just moved into private student accommodation so HMO. He's in 3rd floor loft room and the light is in the middle of the ceiling and the led is very bright at night. I think it's in the room because the top of the staircase is open to the room with the FD at the bottom hence technically it's lighting the escape route.

My daughter stuck black insulation tape over the LED, but that resulted in us not knowing when the battery had failed.

As Eric suggests stick a strip of duct tape over it but don't completely cover it just enough to obscure the light.

The green light shows that the supply is on and that the emergency battery is charging.
The maintenance people might not like it , but just tape over the offending bits. He has to leave the actual light tube showing.

Exactly that. In the event of emergency evac he may very well be glad it was provided and works.

Suggest he stops being a wooz and learn to live with it

The LED isn't lighting anything so he's going to put something on the "bed" side of it to reduce the glare - it will still be highly visible from everywhere else as will the light should it ever come on.

I'd take the cover off and tape it so led is barely visible
