... what you show is not cheap, it is simply rubbish.

So as "to get him back", no, get someone else, as you simply can't trust anyone who does that.

And there in lies the problem.

One of the things confusing me is the apparent addition of 2 armoured cables.

We have no idea if TN or TT, or anything else, so we can't say this or that should be done, but either a SWA is isolated or earthed, it should not be half done.

So we can say it is wrong, but not what should be done.

What seems to be demonstrated is it's not the work expected from an electrician, so reasonably safe to assume he is not really an electrician so don't really want to give him a change to correct it, as the reverse may happen.
