Repair surface water pipe?

Hi,

How do I best fix the hole in this surface water pipe? Just holding rainwater from the guttering. I guess it was made when that armoured cable was dug in. Replacing it entirely would be a lot of work so looking for alternatives. It's probably been like that for 10+ years.

I discovered when assessing how to lower (20mm) and level the hopper. Any advice on this too? I think levelling it is probably not worth the effort either. Can I just cut down the spigot to lower it or will I then not get the fitting in (as I'd have cut off the taper)?

I was hoping for something less invasive as an interim (albeit probably for a while) solution until there's a better opportunity to fix properly. All I need to do is stop dirt getting in, not stop water getting out right. I was hoping someone would suggest some sort of patch

A bit of flashband will keep debris out and let you concrete over the thing if you wish

As above: dig it out & replace it.
For a couple of reasons the crack seems recent.
By the time you've messed about with digging to enable flash banding you may as well do it properly - plus there's probably more to the crack than can be seen.
Does the gully drain to a soak-away or a sewer?
Plus you could correct your gully ground surface level.
If your gully area begins to swamp during a wet winter then you might have cause to think on about cutting corners?
FWIW: Why not get the shallow depth of the elec cable checked out - (450mm - 500mm depth is usually safe)?

Drains to a sewer. I've seen no indication of water in that area in the 6 years we've been in the house. There's nothing I've done that has caused that hole so it's at least that old. I just don't want to get into digging it out and replacing it, and the hassle I might encounter. The armoured cable goes to a decorative lampost in the lawn. I knew cable was roughly there when I started, but yes shallower than anticipated. I think both are jobs to address when the drive is eventually redone i.e. patch up for now and on the long term list to fix properly.

Have I done the biggest part though? I've not got under it, the unexposed end is under concrete and depending on how long the piece is might also be under the drive, and I assume I'd have to take the hopper and the bit under it out to fit the new bit so even more digging around

Maybe you've not seen "water in the area" over six years because the pipe was not damaged six years ago.
There's also the matter of rats from the sewer would have found that crack & at that depth been coming & going for six years.
Rats will be thro any flashband or patch in minutes.
Anyway, good luck with whatever you do.
