Thoughts on tidying up a garden wiring box

They're regular swa glands not waterproof

At least they enter bottom of box

Is it acceptable to use these outside? I guess it is or the electrician who installed this box wouldn't have done, but then he also installed lots of galvanised junction boxes full of gell to connect swas to light fittings and buried them. They all failed!

I don't know . Never checked always used waterproof glands outside

Burying galvanized boxes with swa glanded into them is a lot worse .

When we first started having tripping issues many years ago, I dug up one of these galvanised junction boxes. I've never seen so much rust and moisture inside a junction box. Even some of the wires had rusted. A complete failure. That's when I moved them all above ground, which seemed to work for a while, until the recent tripping issues

Fill them with gel or get them gel wago covers...they've got me out of trouble a few times.

They were already filled with gell - a green gooey substance that stuck to anything it touched. Still wasn't enough to protect the connections inside the box. All connections are now above ground, making it much easier to change light fittings etc. and everything in the junction box now stays dry and clean and is much more accessible.

Gel inside a galvanised box will do SFA to protect the box.
