Don't know what brand you use buddy but most of what I use, only goes home when lubed with solvent cement and then it's final!
Try a dry fit and it's a ******* to release!

Don't do much these days but I share your pain. I usually just try and get the pipe into the socket enough to hold the position, allow for the bit extra that isn't in the socket and experience tends to help with the rest!
Had to take drastic action yesterday.
Big house refurbed in 2023.
Builders put no SVP in at all - not even a durgo and his bogs and drains get regularly blocked.
Opened a manhole and away it went, so I put in a temporary vent at the only place I could!
If all is good for a couple of months I'll be redoing this whole monstrosity of pipework to go through the roof instead of around it and will put a proper SVP in.
Oh and I found why he couldn't use his bath as it leaked through the ceiling...
Nice bit of thinking outside the box there, really shows the importance of allowing soil and drainage to breathe.

Thanks again chaps, I’ve bought a 50mm core bit so that’s sorted. All pipes were blocked with gunk - and I’m careful what I put down there!
I’m thinking of having the waste pipe on the right, the washing machine waste is closer that way and it’s away from copper pipes. Should I shorten the upright (to strainers) pipes?

Shorten the overflows.

Yes - no need to have the drops into the main body of the waste system so long. Shorten them by at least 50%. They are designed to be shortened to allow a good fit to an existing outflow.

Unfortunately no amount of shortening can make it level with the existing waste pipe, even though it lines up perfectly. What a shame!
Think I’ll replace my SDS drill with one that has a safety clutch tomorrow. Don’t fancy snapping my wrist. Need to do one in the bathroom soon so will be worth it.

As above, go through as Low as you can, ensuring you can still get a fall to the discharge point. Future proofs things then.
And when you do the outside pipework, use a tee rather than elbow and put yourself a cleaning eye in.
