I know for certain this subject has been discussed (I read it only a few days ago but cant find the thread....duh)

Need to remove norton and saw a link to a prog that got rid of it totally, any help would be great

Nothing in that program which you could not do manually.
Registry cleaners are notorious for doing as much damage as good, notice the advice to back up your registry before use......

Only if you know how. The poster doesn't, or they wouldn't be asking. We are suggesting alternatives.

If you can offer some positive help rather than rolling your eyes at reasonably suggestions, now would be a good time to do so...

Three weeks ago the OP asked where to get the Norton Removal Tool and two hours later he got the answer.
Why ressurect this thread with advice to use something different when the correct software is available.
Using the Add/Remove section to uninstall Norton leaves bits all over the place and Ccleaner will not, necessarily, remove all the stray bits. It depends on which Norton program had been installed whether Ccleaner can catch all the bits. But why suggest using two different operations when there is a ready made single operation to do the job?

It would help if you fully read my post, which gave you directions to another site.
This site will tell you why registry cleaners are bad....

Sorry -- I didn't realize I was catering for a advanced user base here. I offered that solution based on the general level of advice requested and given here. If I wanted to spend 3 hours typing up registry edits I could have, but why bother when I've far better things to do.

In addition, you didn't offer any postivie help. You shot down my reply to your little one liner with nothing but a link to the root of a more techinical forum leaving the OP to wander around it.

PS. It's also pretty smart advice to backup your registry before making any changes, manual or automatic. But I guess you are far too good for that.

The reason I did the rolling eyes, was to point out, that they say to back up your registry, before using THEIR program.
They know it is impossible to produce a generic program which will work on the millions of variations of registries. Use Ccleaner at your own risk.

A novice is likely to encounter problems restoring a backup, more scope for errors.

The site I recommended, is good for novice and advanced user alike. And gives good free advice.
