Someone asked a question on how to get this rad working. It was new so there is no sludge.

Without seeing the layout of the pipe work I suggested that he close the lock shield and then open it one turn or more to get it completely hot. I call this balancing.

The next thing I am slated and told that I am totally wrong. Accused of taking cocaine and verbally abused by a bunch of geriatrics.

What I need is everyone to air thier views on getting this rad to work.
No sniping, No slander Just a debate.

Lets see if we can manage that. Thanks

How will closing lockshield & re opening make the rad get hotter if the l/s is open and the rad is not heating the whole system needs balancing or pipe sizing needs to be looked at

does anyone actually read or do they see what they want to

You are missing the point of what Sanj.varah is trying to achieve.

He is trying to increase the flow rate, turning the L/S valves down would be counter-productive other than balancing the whole system.

What Sanj.varah cannot see is if the index radiator gets hot so too will the rest.

Whats with the Sanj.varah? Is this topic in reference to another? If so can someone post a link?
Or is Sanj.varah another alias of somebody we know with a lot of aliases?

A very simple analogy: You have a very simple system with just two, equal sized rads on it, in seperate, equal sized rooms. Both rads have valves set 50% open. Annoyingly the first rad in the system gets hotter than the second and I would like them to have (more or less) equal temperatures.

What do I do with the rad valves to achieve parity between my two radiators?

I know tooo

I would open the valves fully on the first radiator, so the water don't hang around 8) Then I would close the L/S valve on the second radiator, so the water can't get out very quickly.

DIYers please take no notice of this drivel

DIAs wrong, you turn off both rads and then both rad temps are the same and so are the rooms.

Av a won

Good answer CLF. Unfortuneately you have not won. Can you guess why? :)

I wonder if the person to whom the question was directed is going to have a go at answering it?
