Hot Water Copper Cylinder Leaking

leaking cylinder causing a few problems to downstairs flat.is there an easy way to change it? there doesn't seem to be a drain on the existing cylinder,so if i need to syphon the water,what is the most efficient way?

Straw and a tea cup. empty into big bucket

Turn off supply from storage tank, put some cloths down and punch a 1/2" hole in the top of the cylinder. Insert garden hose and syphon off.

Turn off water empty as much out taps as will come cut pipe remove fitting at top of cylinder either by cutting pipe or unscrewing .you will get a bit of water then put a hose with abit of 15mm pipe in it into the cylinder and suck . removing mouth before you get a pile of sh#te into your stomach

or you might consider removing the immersion heater, and putting your syphon hose in there.

When you fit the new one, consider putting a drain cock in the pipe that fills it with cold water at the bottom.

Yeah he will have an immersion spanner just lying about and the majority do have have a draincock they just don`t work

Fill or part fill the hose with water first, stick it in the tank and let the water in the hose pull the water out of the tank. No need for mouthfulls (or a lungfull) of gungy water.
