Hi all i have purchased a ravenheat combi boiler and just had it fitted however it will not come on. The system has been filled up but still will not light up, there are no noises coming from the boiler at all. The installer suggested that it was an electrical fault. Can anyone help?

If the installer is a proper CORGI registered person then one would have expected he would have been able to better diagnose what the problem is.

If he is convinced that he has properly installed the boiler then he should call Ravenheat under the warrantee.

However if it turns out to be an installation error then their visit is likely to be chargeable! Usually about £90 !

I hope you have not paid him yet!

well i did call ravenheat and they require the installers corgi number but he is unavailable at the moment. has anyone any ideas what the fault may be is there anything i can do to check?

Its impossible to guess the fault with no information.

The CORGI web site at corgi-trust should enable you to identify the installer from his local area where he is based or you can phone their 0800 number and they will find it from the name or even the telephone number.

I do hope he is registered!

Oficially Ravenheat should still come out under the Sale of Goods Act but they are very supportive of registered installers by not normally coming unless the installer is registered. Its a pity the others dont do that!

Stick a temp electrical supply on the boiler-cable and plug top and extension cable if necessary-and try that if it doesn't work then go back to the manufacturer.

Are you sure that CTB is trained under Part P or otherwise competent to do electrical work?

Well perhaps his installer could do as I suggested in order to find out if the problem is indeed with the boiler or external electrical work pertaining to said appliance

Thanks guys for your info, the boiler itself has been hard wired into a fused spur and i have tested the live terminals in the boiler itself and there is power coming into the boiler. i have checked the fuse and made sure its a 3amp fuse like the manufacturer has stated but still nothing.

ohh im sure mr agile (that dosent hide behind a screen name) will tell you you shouldnt have done that

if the boiler is wired correctly check live and neutral to earth

then get the gits that made it out

Hello CRT2008, can you say which model of Ravenheat boiler that you have.

Also what if any indicator lights are illuminated, when the electrical supply is switched on, also what external controls does you heating have. By that I mean is there a room stat.

by the way, if your installer rings Ravenheat he can register the appliance and get a 2/3 year warranty.
