I am in the process of getting a new boiler most boilers quoted now have a sedbuck rating of 5 which is 90% efficient if i understand right.Question is how long does a boiler remain this efficient.

Sedbuk ratings are from A to G - and newly installed boilers today (in most situations) need to be SEDBUK rated A or B.

I understand that but how long do they remain at 90% efficient, life time of the boiler? or do they start losing efficiency year on year ?

They lose 0.05622% efficiency per annum and 0.5758% on a leap year. Loss rate is greater when there's an 'r' in the month.

The efficiency will remain close to the spec as long as they are installed on a cleaned system and are serviced regularly.

Good job you added in most situations londonboy as there are C rated boilers that meet the regs the same as an A or B do
