I know its not really helpful but will give you an idea, I was lucky enough to have my previous firm pay for the course for a counterbalance fork lift truck which gave you a licence for 5 years and cost around £1500 with a refresher course around £500.

My new firm stupidly didnt take up the option to send me on a refresher course at a cheaper rate and allowed the licence to expire in 2003, I believe if in the future they do wish to send me back on a course that i will now have to do the full one again
The course I did was quite hard with a lot of precision driving and loaded turns on a sixpence within very tight circles of cones and other obstacles but satisfying to pass.
Good luck hope you pass ok.

Mind you that was the charge to the beeb so it was most probably cheaper than that then, mind you with inflation I wouldnt be surprised if it cost that still.

wow not cheap then Tim :!: I am enquiring for my son and through no fault of his own hes skint so I will be forking ( pardon the pun ) out for it

Don't be put off by the price i quoted as a lot of firms used to take advantage of the way the beeb used to pay out and i saw a lot of items gain an "extra zero" here and there, so please do shop around.
The guys stivino suggested sound like they are worth a try?

One thing to add though is the courses were based on several employees attending it rather than on a one to one basis and most importantly the truck was one the beeb already owned, I've found a lot of these trainers are self employed small firms and bring their knowledge NOT the equipment which is usually already on site, so hiring a truck for the day may be a hidden extra?

Just a thought.. do you think as he is unemployed he may be entitled to a govenment grant to help him get back to work :?: as it must be benificial to both parties in the long run

worth a try, good idea, get him on a retraining programme yeah why not?
