okay,will re-do the connections once more. Coming to my initial query-the earth wires from the top of the lamp and the earth wire from the base(body) where do I need to connect them. Shall I go ahead and re-do connections like this pic??

Thats what I did-connected earth from the lamp and earth from the body(base) to supply earth.Lamp comes on for few seconds and then fuse trips.
