    tiling on chipboard

Glad you are sorted, it's a good product as long as it's fitted correctly. £10 or £12 a sheet is a 3 year old price though - that post was made in 2007. Between £8 and £10 a sheet is the going rate at most local tile shops now and bear in mind that's a price based on a free local delivery...

    tiling on chipboard

I don't mind ribbing but clearly stating a manufacturers website and "cost prices" then saying I am charging too much is not fair unless it is qualified. I can take ribbing but get a little peeved when I often respond to a post to try and help someone it is suggested I have another motive...

    tiling on chipboard

I give up Far in excess of what you can buy it for ???? I make a few pounds a sheet, I have to buy it in bulk (in other words put my cash into it) and wait until every sheet has sold to realise the profit in it. I have to give advice on how to use it and as said out of the profit made per...

    tiling on chipboard

I see your wink (in other words you may be pulling my leg) but I have posted the above as most people who have never ran a business will not understand what is involved

    tiling on chipboard

I sell it for £10 a sheet inc VAT to most people. How much profit do you think you need to make to run a shop ? Bear in mind the prices quoted from my supplier exclude delivery (unless you buy a **** load at a time) Rent Rates Wages Heat & Light Insurance Advertising Motoring expenses...

one tile will not stick ???????

For just one tile you could use a whole host of things, what about cleaning the area, get it dry and silicone it on? No more nails? Prime the area and use single part flex floor adhesive.

    tiling on chipboard

Honestly you would be amazed, it is really good. It is thin but very stiff once bonded to the floor. You use there polyurethane glue and 8 of there special screws per sheet. It is put down in a brickbond fashion for extra strength and is wonderfull. I have it on my bathroom floor with Granite...

    tiling on chipboard

There is "No -More - ply" a cement fibre board that is water proof and is used instead of plywood as it is only 6mm thick and is easier to handle as the sheet sizes are smaller (1200x600mm) This is available from independent tile and bathroom shops (not B&Q etc) My tilers always use No-More...

Adhesive Trowel -Square Notch 10mm or 6mm?

You will need to butter the backs of the tiles as well as the floor if the tiles have button backs (large recessed squares / circles etc left by the die that presses the tiles at the factory). The trowel spreading thickness does depend on how flat your floor is and what tiles you are laying. For...

Ply lining bathroom floor after lifting floor boards

You should overlay with ply, which I know seems daft but you really do need to repair the floor boards first then overlay with ply or an alternative product. It is partly the layers that give the floor it's rigidity. I know of lots of people who just lay a thick floor of ply (18mm thick) and go...

    tiling on plywood

You were the one who said "Which is it? Tiler, or retailer?" So I thought I would clarify exactly which it is. Honestly guys I can not sell adhesive to people who are miles and miles away from me so you will have to take my word for it that I am on this forum to offer some free advice to...

    tiling on plywood

Softus, I have been in the tile industry since the early 1980's. Worked in most aspects of the tile industry:- retail sales, sales rep, director of a tile distributor, was a tiler. Worked exstensively with Italian factories and I now have my own retail shop and offer a fitting service. So...
