Hi, I noticed one end of these 8mm wall plugs is square; the total diameter is 11mm if we include the square sharp ends Would these wall plugs still make a clean hole into a masonry wall without damaging some of the finishing plaster around it? Many thanks.

It's a 1940's cavity wall and unfortunately it looks like the majority rests on nothing. When looking through the small gap all along and between the sill and the floor screed I could see the full cavity underneath the sill and then the inside of the door step several inches further away...

Well spotted. That must be why the tap feels slightly loose when I turn it. I'm going to take a retaining clip from another gland and fit it on this one. I don't know if it ever came like this or whether the clip came out. Many thanks.

Thank you for that information. I bought a 3/4" tap reviver kit, I believe to BS5412 and BS1010 but the thread of the adapter they provide is 24mm, while the thread I need is 22mm wide. I will continue looking.

A final question, if I were to remove the current washing tap at the top and replace it with a check valve would I be able to use the same olive and nut from the short pipe just below it, as long as I put some PTFE tape on the old olive?
