Ive disconnected the switch and its allowed me to have my sockets working for now, the light switch has 2 grey cables coming out with all kinds of wires like the one in the picture

No wires were double over apart from earth,

So I just need to buy like for like ? Can I not just buy one without ? I don't know why there is so many wires , it's only used for the ceiling light?
