Which is faulty, ignition unit or flourescent tube ?

Moved into house. In garage is a flourescent tube light but it doesn't work. Before I go out and spend money, I'd like to see what's wrong. As the wires on my mini tester do not stretch to either end of the tube  , I thought I'd test the ignition unit. Is it as simple as testing a fuse...

Rounded off bleeding nut on radiator

As the title says, the nut has been rounded off a tad and the last time I bled the radiators (ie. when we moved into our house) it finished it off :( What's the best solution ? How do I get it our so i can replace it with a nice new one ? Thanks in advance.

    DAylight robbery

Bunch of bl00dy liars. Should be shut down. To echo the post above, I have used blackcircles.com many times and they are great. Good tyres much cheaper and they are delivered to a tyre centre of your choosing. You turn up and get them fitted having paid for everything on t'internet.

Incinerator Ash - where to spread ?

Hello. Had a good incinerator session the other evening and got rid of loads or dried out weeds etc. Thing is, what do I do with the ash that's left ? Can I spread it on a flower bed ? Or is there somewhere else it should go ? Thanks.

    Removing a wall mounted lamp

No, I'm not a tradesman, hence why I asked the question in order to seek advice before just ploughing on with what would have been a dangerous action. Thanks to those below who gave me such good and clear answers. I will stick a blank panel on the wall or a fused switch, as suggested. Thanks.

    Removing a wall mounted lamp

Hello. In the spare bedroom, there is a wall-mounted spotlight. Basically we would like to remove it. When we do, I just need to know whether the course of action below is safe: 1) Switch off power 2) Remove lamp 3) Put tape round bare wire 4) Polyfiller the hole in the wall. Thanks !

    cars of the seventies

I had one of these in the same colour as the picture. 1978 Opel Kadett Coupe. I wanted a Mini, but then saw this and had to have it. Most people thought it was a Manta or something sporty  With a 1196cc "lump" this was not the case ! I replaced the old air box with a K&N open...

    Concept to Rally sport.

Agree that only 2 factory teams is bad, but I am really looking forward to next year. 1) Battle between Solberg and Gronholm in the new Ford 2) Loeb having to drive at 150% in a private Xsara 3) Some surprise results as the factory cars retire. What price a podium for Mark Higgins...

    Cat Flap in A Wall

Took me three hours to knock through the wall yesterday - hard work ! Used a long drill and angle grinder. The killer was the dust  When I blew my nose, I was blowing out clay

    Shower curtain - loop ?

Hello. I need to fit a shower rail/curtain, but the space is limited. Can you get curtains that are long and then loop back ? For example, it goes straight for about a meter, then loops round on itself. Thanks

    Commer Vans

 Is that the one where the car/van flashed red ? "Would you like to see some puppies ?". Then, back at the perv's house, the child is in a darkened room and a shadowy figure comes in... ...scarred the $hit out of me when I was 7. Probably can't show films like that anymore because...
