you can buy a 3" toliet connecter. if its a cast iron you might have some hassle getting the connector in then you can buy a 3" sleve although there tricky to locate most merchants will be able to order it for you however if you do go for this method i sugest putting one of those things that...

if you want to operate your system corectlly then the position of the vavles does matter. there are some trvs on the market that can be switched to let them act as the inlet or outlet. you have already identified the feed pipe going to the radiator as this is the one heating up first well...
