    Plumbing / Toilet Cistern Question

Hello - looking for a bit of advice. I have a concealed cistern in a house I've just moved to, and I think the diaphragm in the syphon style flush has gone. Hopefully an easy fix, and I am reluctant to replace the whole flush system as we are having the bathroom redone in a month or so. From...

Repair to a blown brick during tap installation

I should add, I’ve since measured and the max depth here is 15mm, max length is 150mm. Brick is 100mm deep and 210mm across so depth is around 1/6 of the brick.

Repair to a blown brick during tap installation

Thanks for the replies. @Lower I did consider this but I can’t get the pieces to sit flush. Then when trying to chisel out the pipe hole some of the bits broke so gave up on that attempt! I think longer term I’ll look to replace the brick. Is the mortar approach going to cause any issues in the...

Hanging curtains into plasterboard/wooden frame - will these plugs work?

Hi, I need to hang some reasonably heavy curtains into an external wall of my wooden frame house. Will the below plugs work? I can’t seem to find any that advertise curtains specifically I’m thinking the Timco ones if I can find a stud, or the fisher ones if I end up drilling straight into...

Small cracks in bricks - anything to worry about?

Hi, I have recently bought and moved into a new house. We had a full survey done and the surveyor gave the “external walls and brickwork” the top rating. Since moving in, I have noticed a few cracks in some of the bricks. As far as I can see, none or very few of the cracks extend the full...

    Repairing crack in ceiling

Hi, I’ve just had some movers in and when getting an awkward wardrobe up the stairs they’ve knocked the slanted part of the ceiling causing a crack to form across a newly decorated ceiling. Is there an easy/best way to go about repairing and repainting this?

Does anyone know what I’m looking at here?

Okay thanks. Is that something that can be repaired simply, or is it a tiles off shower replaced kind of job? Thank you

Is it possible to adjust water flow using these screws?

Just looked at BES 17527. I think we have something like that under the tub but I’ve been told the flow restriction was on the tap level, nothing to do with a value. I guess the best solution will be to get a plumber to remove the value from under the tub and see if there is anything there...
