    Painting new plaster in bathroom

I'm unsure how to exactly proceed with painting a new plaster in a bathroom. Does it need any special steps vs painting 'normal' rooms? The ceiling will be white while the walls will be in a different colour (bright grey). The plan is to: 1. Seal both walls and ceilings with 1 layer of watered...

What's the name of this part?

Thanks, that's it! Not only I know now that it's called a 'handle adapter', but I even know where I can buy the replacement! Amazing, many thanks.

What's the name of this part?

To explain further: - I need a replacement for this part. The t-bar has 2 of them, 1 broke. - I can't find it in any online store (nor the original t-bar), so I thought that I might not be naming them correctly. - I took the photo of the part that is still in a good condition

What's the name of this part?

How would name this part on the picture? I need a replacement for it, but I can't find it online (I'm afraid I can't go to a store anytime soon). This thing is like a fixing that gets screwed to the closet door and then connects to a t-bar handle. This way the t-bar handle doesn't get screwed...

Cracks on the walls around the window

Hi, I have a lot of cracks in the edges around the window, as seen on the photos. I'm unsure how to fill them in. For the upper ones, should I use a sealant (if yes, what type?), or try a plaster mix? I want to eliminate draughts that come through these cracks. As for the bottom ones, there's a...

    Squeaking shell chair

Hi, I have a few of those 'shell' chairs. That's the model, but you can find dozens of variations - https://www.officesight.com/wholesale-interiors-dc-231a-black-azzo-black-plastic-mid-century-modern-shell-chair.html They start to squeak when I sit down. I tried to tighten bolts, but they're...

Fixing broken seal on a fridge

Hi, I have a rip in the fridge's door seal. 3-4cm. Did anybody have any success with fixing or gluing together the seal? I know you can replace the whole seal, but it the rest of it is fine (the fridge isn't even 2 years old), so maybe something can be done to just patch it up? Thanks!

    Foaming paint on the ceiling

Thanks, I got two other rollers and one of them (small with short nap) worked out. The finish wasn't perfect, but probably it's because of the previous layer. After sanding it had created tiny craters here and there. But overall, it's looks fine now.

    Foaming paint on the ceiling

Hi all, I have a problem with painting a ceiling in a bathroom. It looks like there are tiny bubbles of paint on some of the painting areas. I guess that's called 'foaming'. The surface was prepared correctly, but it was the first time I've used Zinsser Satin White paint, so I might have done...

    Extractor fan replacement

Turned out that there was ducting, but it fell off at some point in the past. It got reattached during the installation of the new fan installed. As for the fan, I went for a different centrifugal modal. Didn't really have a choice as the motor had to be inside of the bathroom.

    Extractor fan replacement

Yes, it's the bathroom. There's a timer enabled, so it runs after it's switched off. Which is good, but still insufficient if you're taking a shower. I have to leave the door open after to make sure the condensation drops quicker. I think it don't have much choice. I can't access the ceiling...

    Extractor fan replacement

I need to replace an extractor fan, but I don't know how much of a choice I have when it comes to the replacement. Currently, I have this model, mounted to the ceiling: https://www.vortice.ltd.uk/shop/residential-ventilation/ariett/ariett/. I don't have access to the roof (5th floor), but I...

Converting hard-wired to a regular socket?

Right, I completely forgot about fuses in plugs. How silly of me. Anyway, just doing research to make sure all is safe to use. Many thanks for your advises!

Converting hard-wired to a regular socket?

Thanks for your opinions. Point taken about space needed for some appliances, like the dishwasher. I there's more room for flexibility with fridges. I'll have the connection converted to a unswitched socket. However, current hardwired connection has a fuse. Should a get a fused socket then? And...

Converting hard-wired to a regular socket?

Hi, I'd like some advice. I need to replace an under-counter fridge soon. It's hard-wired. I think I could get an electrician to convert the connection to a regular power socket. Is there are any risk with that? Is hard-wiring appliances any safer? What if that was replaced by a regular or...
