Keeping Silicone seal round shower from going black

I've just removed the horrible old silicone sealant round my shower tray, cleaned it all up and re-sealed it all. I'm pleased with the result, and SWMBO is even more happy. However, I'm looking for any tips and tricks to stop it all going black and horrible again. Someone suggested spraying...

    Neff kitchen appliances.

We are soon to be getting a new kitchen installed as the old one is 25 years old and well worn. We have been quoted for Neff appliances - Double oven, Gas hob, Vent hood and Dishwasher. Reading some of the comments on the Neff website, I'm a bit concerned that we are not getting good equipment...

    De Dietrich oven bulb

Had a similar problem with our oven, different make though. I took all the shelves out, and after removing a couple of self-tapper screws, the rear plate of the oven came out to expose the fan and the element. The lamp glass was screwed into this plate, so I was able to "manipulate" it so that...

    Sharp R-270SLM Microwave Lamp Replacement

Burnerman- Got the top case off. See what you mean about capacitors! Bulb is indeed 20W SES, but see below. Nicam49- I see what you mean about the bulb! The "pear shaped" ones (larger diameter at the top) don't fit. Luckily I had a parallel sided one in by box of spare bulbs! Something to...

    Sharp R-270SLM Microwave Lamp Replacement

How do you replace the lamp in this machine? I'm assuming the whole outer cover has to come off, as I don't see any other way. Before I take it off, what kind of lamp do I need? Jimmy

    Window overlay pins

They really need to be removable in order to clean the windows properly. I've been thinking that if I can't identify the correct part, I may have a go at modifying a golf tee. They are slightly larger in diameter, but if I spin one in my drill, I may be able to sand it down a bit, then cut it...

    Window overlay pins

Sorry to have been so long in replying. Father-in-law (87 & with a bit of dimentia) fell and broke his hip and was in hospital. He's in York, and we're in Aberdeenshire, so a bit stressfull time. Glad to report he's out of hospital & making good progress. Back to the pins - here's a few photos...

    Window overlay pins

These are all nails of some description. What I'm actually looking for is completely plastic. You just push them in by hand into a hole that is already there. They can then be pulled out with plyers, and the overlays removed for cleaning. If I knew how to attach a picture, I'd show you what I mean

    Window overlay pins

Our house has wooden overlays on some of the windows which are held in by 4 little plastic pins. Over the years (about 20), some of these pins have lost their heads, and others are getting past their best. Anyone know what the correct name for them is, and where can I get replacements? They are...

    Fungus in the grass

I have this "mushroom" type stuff in my grass. I have 2 questions - 1. What is it? 2. How do I get rid of it? Anything that I use to get rid of it must be "Cat friently", otherwise "The Boss" will have me hung, drawn & quartered if anything happens to her pussy! I'll try and load a couple of...

Boiler Mate OV - hot water TOO hot

That sounds about right! Was that roughly about 10 years ago?

Boiler Mate OV - hot water TOO hot

It WAS a builder doing a whole estate! I can't see the logic in fitting something so expensive, when a simple system would suffice. I thought builders were only interested in profit!

Boiler Mate OV - hot water TOO hot

I haven't actually measured the temperature, but I would scald myself if I tried to wash my hands under the hot tap. They have a wee boy, who is just approaching one, and once he's mobile, I'm scared he'll hurt himself if he tries to wash his hands on his own. What would happen if I turn...

Boiler Mate OV - hot water TOO hot

My Daughter and Son-in-law have moved into a house with a Boiler Mate OV, and the domestic hot water is coming out far too hot. It seems a very complicated system, and I can't see a thermostat to turn down the water temp. The user instruction say that to get the maximum efficiency out of the...
