TV man left us with this - how to fix?

Ha! I've got a brushed metal version of one of those in my Amazon basket. If it was just the coax, that's what I'd use without question but I'm concerned that the extension lead is left like that. I mean, is it a building regs issue? And should the brush plate be fixed into a proper back box...

TV man left us with this - how to fix?

Thanks. Glad it's not just me. My partner (much as I love him) is dangerously clueless on DIY and doubts me when I say something isn't right (I mean, I'm usually right thanks to having more homeowner experience than him but he's the man so how can that be?) ;) I've read how to fill the big hole...

TV man left us with this - how to fix?

Hi, I wanted a TV in a bedroom which didn't have a coax point already in it. My partner got his 'guy' in to put the new point in, but to mount the TV on the wall too. I wanted the cables hidden. Now, I didn't see this after the guy had left as a cupboard sits in front of it and I only really...

    Garage ceiling insulation

Hi, we moved into a 1970 built bungalow built on a hill, and the bungalow has a double garage under the house (plus storage across the remaining footprint). The house is very hard to keep warm and it feels like a lot of the cold is coming up from the concrete floor. The ceiling of the garage...

Ideas for converting a concrete 'garden' into usable space

Hello! My boyfriend and I have just bought a house which is gorgeous, but we had to compromise on the garden. The rear garden has had concrete poured and has been used for parking several cars/vans. The double garage is accessed here also. But my bf and I love gardening, and the dog loves her...

    Gap-filling around flue

The flue through the external solid wall (Victorian house) was removed and replaced earlier in the year when the gas boiler was fixed. There's a gap around the flue that I'd like to fill as I'm draught hunting at the moment and was wondering if I could use an expanding foam which was heat...

Insulating floor of a first floor bedroom...airbrick

Thanks for all of that advice! I really don't at this stage have lots of money to throw at it so it will have to be low cost to start with. once I get a lodger and some money coming in I'll reassess if the prpblem persists, though i very rarely use the tumble dryer now so that's one less thing...

Insulating floor of a first floor bedroom...airbrick

Hi, I've a spare room which sits above the bathroom which i would eventually like to get habitable in order to get a lodger into it. It is very cold (two external solid walls) but noise from the kitchen travels too easily into that bedroom. I've had guests (very nice guests!) who've told...

    Vermin advice please!

Thanks for all your advice people. I've inspected the area around the bathroom extension to see if I can figure out how they're getting in. I've blocked up a vent which is no longer in use (the shower now sits on the other side of the vent and the electricity supply from that now runs to the...

    Vermin advice please!

Hi, I have a downstairs bathroom in a smal single storey extension and I have heard scuttlings above me in the roof (and once, as I was sat on the loo, I heard something go from one side of the ceiling to the other and then down the wall either beside or behind me *gulp*) How do I know if it...

Is this right - pressure increasing on boiler when heating?

Just to keep things tidy, I'm reporting back. Hot water issue was caused by the heat exchanger which has been replaced and the pressure issue by the expansion vessel, which will be replaced too. Thanks for the help and advice.
