Filling small holes in floor tiles

Morning everyone. I'd appreciate a steer on the best approach for filling small holes in floor tiles. I have no idea what type of tiles these are, but we think they're almost thirty years old so there's little hope hope of getting like-for-like replacements. If it's relevant, there seems to be a...

    Disposing of rubble

Found a site called Enviromate which seems to be a sort of Gumtree/Freecycle for building materials, so I may take a punt on that. After that, Hippo bags are also a possibility, as the largest one they offer will just about sit in our front garden, meaning no permit required!

    Disposing of rubble

Thanks all. Plenty of use for the soil itself, as I think it came from the bottom of our garden and was used to bury everything else. I've also had to use a bunch of it to even up the wonky path. Local tip is a possibility, but right now it's limited to two trips a month. I'm still uncovering...

    Disposing of rubble

Hi all, When we moved in to our new house we discovered a mound of rubble on the other side of our (collapsing) back fence. We'll have to get it moved in order to fit a new fence so I've started to uncover it, and it seems mostly to be a mix of broken paving, breeze blocks and concrete...

Fridge bulb has melted its fitting...

This is a bit alarming. We noticed this morning that the bulb had gone but on closer inspection, it's melted the plastic fitting and the plastic cover. I've not replaced the bulb but am concerned the fridge is now a fire hazard. Any thoughts? The bulb had been in there for months and was of the...

    Cooker isolator switch distance

Thank for taking the time, everyone. Yes, the isolator switch has been wired to a connection point right behind the cooker , so I don't think that'll be an issue. From my POV the isolator switch seems in a reasonably accessible place; open the cupboard door and it's right in front of you...

    Cooker isolator switch distance

Hi all, We've recently had a 32a cooker circuit installed in anticipation of moving from a gas oven (left in the house we kust bought) to dual fuel. When the electrician came to have a look he and my partner agreed the isolator would go inside a bottom cupboard less than a metre away laterally...

    Toilet waste pipe queries

I figue I'll watch someone do it and learn a good bit for the next time! Plus, we're going to need a plumber for some other things down the line, so it'll be a chance to audition. :)

    Toilet waste pipe queries

Hi SFK, Yes, ultimately I think we are. I just wanted to A) know what the soil pipe is actually called and B) check that it didn't need replacing at the same time. I have no plumbing experience so will get someone in to do it! Better that than an emergency call out if I botch it.

    Toilet waste pipe queries

Thank you all very much. Madrab, it definitely feels like rubber. Hugh, it hadn't occurred to me that the green could be paint! They certainly did some odd things with the decor but pulling the floor up is a step too far right now, so if it's sound we'll leave it, and perhaps buy a collar to...

    Toilet waste pipe queries

Hi all, First time posting, but have dawdled on here for years and found it very helpful. We've just bought a Victorian terraced house and found a leak in the ground floor toilet, most notably in the pan connector(?) Part of what I'd like to figure out is the terminology around the parts that...
