duel rcd consumer unit on new 17th edition

rcbo's are going to be they way forward, IMO too  The ESC, THE IET, the NICEIC etc....are steering it this way IMO And it's a good solution, if you're not paying the bill for the materials!

Certifying work you did not do - Number 2

we only offer a periodic unless we have been involved in the "design, erection and verification" of the job  AIUI, there is talk of banning this practise altogether, although it is just talk. At then end of the day, if the place burns down or god forbid somebody gets a belt and is...

Another Shed Supply Question With A Twist

Installing flush light switch in lath & plaster wall

carefully is the answer. Cut out the box size in the laths with a plasterboard saw. use a 16mm steel box. You'll probably need a good bit of bonding coat to stick the box in situ, or gripfill or similar.

Bathroom light, no earth. Ok to add one?

we find places with VIR run in un earthed steel conduit still, and it makes me shudder every time. But invariably, the IR is acceptable as said. Minimum IR is changing to 0.5M per circuit though isn't it, which is only a good thing IMO.

IR test and Loop impedance test

Just as a note, if you're about to be assesed, and you're not familiar with the testing procedure....you need to be quickly. They'll fail you straight away if you are unable to prove you are able to prove competance in the verification of the work you have carried out. It's not enough that...

    Earth Electrodes

they shouldn't be buried under concrete.... You must be able to verify the connection to the stake, so if they're going in a slab you need to use a pit to retain access. If you can verify the connection to the stake, it's OK AIUI.

    RCD

could be TT  If it is and there is no RCD at all, tell them to get one!

    RCD

If you have spare ways, surely it's simpler to use an RCBO just for the outside lights?
